Why did immigrants want to move here?
From 1867 to 1914, the Canadian West opened for a mass settlement, and became home to millions of immigrant settlers seeking a newline. This immigration boom created key industries still important to Canada's international role -like agriculture, mining, and oil. Thousands of diverse immigrants came to Canada between 1867 to 1914 for different reasons. For thousands of immigrants who were inspired to emigrate in search of greater economic opportunities and improved quality of life, the Canadian West presented seemingly infinite possibilities. The Canadian Government had many signed treaties with many First Nations, creating reserves for them to live here and feel safe. The North-West Mounted Police had established many laws and orders in the West making it safe for immigration and settlers to move here.
