Men React to Women Wanting
Freedom
The early 20th century was very much a man’s world. Many men believed a women’s place was at the home. It was believed that the man of the family had to take care of their children and wife. The Father had complete control over the children. He could put the children up for adoption without the Mother’s permission. Women had to care for the house and birth children. Not everyone believed women should have the same political rights or vote as men. Anti-Suffrage groups did exist. A society led by Mrs. H.D.Warren claimed giving women the vote would divide the family (ridiculous if you ask me). Thus started the long fight for gender equality in what was very much still a man’s world.
